The coin portrays an image of two kookaburras perched on the branches of a shrub displaying the flowers of Australian native waratah. The design includes a coloured privy mark representation of a kookaburra, a large kingfisher known for its distinctive ‘laughing’ call, which has been the bird emblem of New South Wales since 1971.
The reverse also incorporates the inscription KOOKABURRA, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight, purity and 2023 year-date.
The coin is presented in a coloured presentation card which incorporates a fold-out stand for upright display.
