The fourth release in the unique The Eight Protectors series features Samantabhadra in the sacred Mount Emei as depicted in the background with a sea of clouds.
The Bodhisattva is seated on a six-tusk white elephant with his foot resting on a divine lotus pedestal signifying serenity and benevolence. As a patron of the Lotus Sutra, he is dressed as royalty holding a lotus flower in his right hand and wielding a powerful bejeweled Ruyi Scepter on his left that fulfils one’s aspirations and wishes.
It symbolizes blessings in wealth and empowers those born in the Year of the Dragon and Snake with smooth sailing careers and financial breakthroughs. The white elephant symbolizes purity and its six tusks represent the six senses of Buddhism (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind) to help believers overcome all obstacles and keep one focused on one’s ambitions.
On the obverse, the eight protectors and guardians of the Chinese zodiacs sit in heart-shaped Bodhi leaves surrounding the twelve zodiacs animals they protect, forming a lotus flower in full bloom. The collectible is crafted in the shape of the Taoist Bagua to attract good luck and ward off evil. In the middle lies the yin-yang symbol of harmony and balance behind the official legal tender of Tchad, the Coat of Arms du Tchad.
