A tribute to the historical piedfort coin first struck in 12th century France, this extra-thick 2oz silver coin features
celebrated American engraver John M. Mercanti’s fourth design for The Perth Mint.
Piedforts were struck in France for visiting dignitaries and served as tangible reminders of the kingdom’s power.
Designed by John Mercanti, the coin’s superb high relief reverse depicts a magnificent wedge-tailed eagle in flight with wings fully extended and stylised rays of sunlight in the background. The design also includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, the 2019 year-date, the coin’s weight and fineness and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The coin is housed in a classic grey display case within an illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage of 2,500 coins worldwide!
