The typeset collection comprises a 1oz proof, bullion, gilded, and coloured coin from the Australian Lunar Silver Coin Series II – 2018 Year of the Dog.
The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be loyal, amiable, kind and friendly.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 99.99% pure silver, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,500 of the 2018 Year of the Dog 1oz Silver Typeset Collection.
The reverse of each coin depicts a German Shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date, and the monetary denomination are shown on each coin’s obverse.
Accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, the Four-Coin Set is housed in a contemporary red and black display case and themed shipper.
