In 2018, The Perth Mint’s internationally renowned Australian Lunar Silver Proof Coin Series II celebrates the Year of the Dog, the eleventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.
The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be loyal, amiable, kind and friendly.
Struck from 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, The Perth Mint will release only 500 coins in this packaging. The coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
This beautiful design features a German Shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on each coin’s obverse.
The coin is presented in a stylish red and black presentation case and themed shipper, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
