Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Space Invaders with this unique, limited edition 1oz silver lenticular coin.
Space Invaders was produced by Japanese electronic game manufacturer Taito Corporation, and launched in June 1978.
Created by Tomohiro Nishikado, it is one of the earliest video games released and viewed as a pioneer of modern gaming. The objective of Space Invaders is for the player to earn as many points as possible by using a laser cannon to shoot aliens and prevent them from "invading". It has been remade on numerous platforms and spawned many sequels, and is considered one of the most successful games of all time.
The Space Invaders name is engraved on a proof background and the use of lenticular printing allows the coloured aliens to move as the coin is rotated at different angles, just like in the actual game!
This 1oz fine silver coin is housed inside a specially designed box which replicates the original arcade game cabinet. This box carries the numbered Certificate of Authenticity on its base. Lifting the "cabinet" off is base reveals the coin cushioned in black felt.
Officially licensed by Taito Corporation, this is a limited edition coin with only 3,000 coins worldwide!
