In 2017, The Perth Mint’s internationally renowned Australian Lunar Gold Proof Coin Series II celebrates the Year of the Rooster, the tenth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.
The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar rooster include 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, and 2017. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be hardworking, loyal, honest, and sociable.
Meticulously struck from 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, this stunning three-coin set includes a 1/10oz, 1/4oz and 1oz coin. No more than 1,500 three-coin sets will be released in this packaging.
The coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The reverse of the coin depicts a rooster standing in a stylised Chinese scene featuring bamboo and leaves. The Chinese character for ‘rooster’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Rooster’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date, and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.
Gold Proof Lunar coins from The Perth Mint are housed in elegant oval-shaped display cases, featuring a glossy timber-effect lid and presented in a coloured themed shipper.
A numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the three-coin set.
