Born to a Norwegian miner, Henry Lawson had a difficult upbringing spending much of his early years searching for gold. With his father often absent, Henry took on the responsibility of his family at a young age.

Lawson joined his mother in Sydney after she seperated from his father, where he published his first poem in 1887, inspired by the riots against the monarchy. Lawson went on to publish numerous short stories and the poetry volume In the Days When the World Was Wide.

Struck from 5oz of 99.99% pure silver, this innovative coin features the profile of Henry Lawson’s face composed of a number of characters and settings from his poems and short stories.
