Direct Coins is pleased to offer this stamp and coin cover commemorating one of Australia’s most celebrated writers – Henry Lawson.
Henry Lawson (1867 – 1922) was an Australian writer and poet born near the gold mining centre of Grenfell, New South Wales, on 17 June 1867. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest poetry and short-story writers of the colonial period.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card featuring images of Henry Lawson. The card includes a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.
The design on this uncirculated $1 coin features a representation of Henry Lawson’s profile within the inscription 150th ANNIVERSARY. The design also includes an inscription of Henry Lawson’s signature and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2017 year-date.
Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post $1.00 stamp. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
