The death adder has a broad, flattened, triangular head and a thick body with bands of red, brown and black with a grey, cream or pink belly. They have the longest fangs of any Australian snake.
The coin is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse features a death adder in colour in the outback. The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIA’S DEATH ADDER.
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2016 year-date.
