The ninth coin from the popular Australian Map Shaped Coin Series features the Great White Shark, which can be found in temperate coastal waters all over the world.
Great White Shark’s live in the upper part of the ocean, closer to the surface, and close to shore, where sunlight shines through the water and prey is readily available, and easily visible.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 6,000 of the 2016 Australian Map Shaped Coin Series – Great White Shark 1oz Silver Coin.
The coin’s coloured reverse depicts a Great White Shark swimming in the ocean with a shipwreck in the background. The design includes the inscription GREAT WHITE SHARK, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, and the 2016 year-date. The coin is innovatively struck in the shape of Australia.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2016 year-date appear on the coin’s obverse.
The coin is housed in a grey presentation case and custom-designed shipper. Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
