The Battle of Britain took place in the summer and autumn of 1940 and was the first major campaign of the Second World War to be fought entirely by air forces. It was also the battle that would decide the fate of the United Kingdom, and the outcome of World War II.
Struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will issue no more than 5,000 of the 75th Anniversary of WWII – The Battle of Britain 2015 1oz Silver Proof Coin.
The coin’s reverse portrays three Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft flying through the sky during the Battle of Britain. The design includes the inscriptions 75th ANNIVERSARY OF WWII and THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2015 year-date, and the monetary denomination.
Each coin is presented in a grey display case, within an illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
