The Chinese Zodiac, Sheng Xiao, has its basis in a twelve-year cycle. Each year is represented by one of twelve animals with unique personality traits, with these characteristics being passed on to people born in that year. In 2015, the Lunar Year of the Goat will see the births of many people who are said to be creative, charismatic, gifted and sensitive.

A popular Chinese New Year motif is the plum blossom, which shows the enviable ability to bloom from branches which seem lifeless after long and harsh winters. Its presence symbolises hope, prosperity, courage, purity and beauty in the lead-up to the renewal that accompanies spring.

The 2015 Lunar Year of the Goat coins feature three goats surrounding a plum blossom tree. The reverse incorporates Chrissy Lau’s traditional Chinese design with original Lunar Series design elements.
