He is also often referred to as the ‘earth-shaker’ due to his penchant for causing earthquakes.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,500 of the 2014 Gods of Olympus – Poseidon 2oz Silver High Relief Coin. The coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.

The coin’s reverse depicts a bearded Poseidon riding the waves on his chariot pulled by two hippocampi, clutching his trident, with dolphins porposing in the background. The design includes the inscription POSEIDON and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The coin’s obverse portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2014 year-date.

To capture the depth and detail of the design, the coin is struck in high relief to a rimless format and features an antique finish.

The coin is housed in a prestigious round wooden display case, with stunning detail on its lid. A beautifully illustrated shipper and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity also accompany this limited offering.
