The coin’s reverse portrays a representation of the Gloria Scott sailing in the background, with Sherlock Holmes sitting onshore smoking his pipe in the foreground. The inscriptions ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘The Gloria Scott’ also feature as part of the design.
The Famous Ships That Never Sailed – Gloria Scott 2014 1oz Silver Proof Coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2014 year-date on the obverse.
No more than 3,000 of the Famous Ships That Never Sailed – Gloria Scott 2014 1oz Silver Proof Coin will be released.
The coin is presented in a wooden case moulded in the shape of a book and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
