Modern Christmas folklore tells the story of Santa Claus and his faithful reindeer, driving his sleigh through the night on Christmas Eve, delivering gifts to good boys and girls all over the world.
The 2014 Christmas Coin celebrates the story of Santa Claus and his reindeer.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the 2014 Christmas 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin.
The coin’s reverse features a snow covered house set against a backdrop of snowflakes falling from the night sky. A silhouette of Santa Claus and his sleigh with four reindeer is reflected across the moon as they fly through the sky. The inscription ‘Season’s Greetings’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also features in the design.
The coin's obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2014 year-date.
Each coin is housed in a classic grey presentation case and custom-designed Christmas-themed shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
