Australian Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian movement, with tens of millions of members and volunteers operating all over the world in more than 188 countries.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of these 2014 100th Anniversary of Australian Red Cross 1oz Silver Proof Coins.

The reverse of the coin features a series of black and white photographs representing the broad cross-section of society that the Australian Red Cross assists. The design also includes an image of a World War I nurse. The inscriptions THE POWER OF HUMANITY and 100 YEARS PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE, the Australian Red Cross logo, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.

The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2014 year-date are shown on the coin’s obverse.

Each coin is housed in a presentation case with an illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
