The Pequod and all but one of her crew were victims of Captain Ahab’s obsession to hunt and kill the white whale in Herman Melville’s literary classic, Moby Dick.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse portrays a representation of the Pequod and the sperm whale, Moby Dick. The inscriptions ‘Moby Dick’ and ‘The Pequod’ also feature as part of the design.
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the obverse of this coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2013 year-date.

The coin is presented in a wooden case moulded in the shape of a book and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
