The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is one of the most iconic of all Australia's birds, instantly evoking images of the Australian bushland. It is known for its strident call, brilliant white feathers, yellow crest and particular intelligence. This species often mates for life and can live between 50 and 90 years, dependent upon its environment.

Struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of these coins.

The coin’s reverse depicts two White Cockatoos, framed by Banksia and Wax flowers. The inscription SPRING and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated into the design. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2013 year-date.

The coin is housed in a presentation case within a themed customised shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
