Australia has some of the world’s most spectacular and unspoilt scenery in the world. Every season in Australia is more beautiful than the next and this beauty has been captured in brilliant colour by The Perth Mint’s Australian Seasons series.
As the second release in this series, autumn takes place in the months of March, April and May. The mellow temperatures, wonderful sunsets and end-of-summer harvests make this season a sight to behold.
The possum is a small to medium-sized marsupial native to Australia. Usually active at night and preferring to sleep during the day, this creature nests high up in the trees.
Struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 196.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of these coins.
The coin’s reverse depicts an Australian possum against the background of an autumn bush sunset. Gumnuts and leaves, the inscription AUTUMN and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated into the design. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2013 year-date.
The coin is housed in a presentation case with a themed, customised shipper and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
